Ashley earned a master’s degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Toronto. She is a licensed Psychological Associate and member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario who primarily works in a school board setting. Within her school board role, Ashley is a strong advocate for student needs at both a school and system level. As a parent and former teacher, Ashley understands the barriers that caregivers and educators face when supporting a child in reaching their full potential as well as the emotional toll it can take. Ashley seeks to be a partner in a child’s education by increasing understanding of and compassion for their needs, highlighting their strengths, and supporting the implementation of efficient, evidence-based strategies to improve their skills and overall well-being. Ashley passionately believes that literacy is a human right. She is an advocate for the implementation of the recommendations the Ontario Human Right’s Commission lays out in their Right to Read report, which followed their 2-year-long investigation of the treatment of students with Learning Disabilities in Reading (also known as Dyslexia) in Ontario. She knows that every child with a Learning Disability, when given proper instruction and supports, can develop the literacy skills necessary for personal success and full participation in their community and beyond. At A Well Mind, Ashley leads and supervises the Literacy for Life reading intervention program to help children develop those skills.
